AHSF Breeder Advancement Fund

The American Hanoverian Society Foundation Breeder Advancement Fund aims to support and empower Hanoverian and Rhineland horse breeders in the United States. The fund is designed to promote Hanoverian and Rhineland breeding programs and the overall quality and competitiveness of the Hanoverian and Rhineland breed.
Objectives:
By providing financial assistance and resources, this fund seeks to:
- Advance Breeding Practices: Encourage breeders to adopt advanced techniques and methodologies that improve the health, performance and breeding of Hanoverian and Rhineland horses.
- Promote Education and Professional Development: Provide opportunities for breeders to enhance their knowledge and skills through formal education, workshops, conferences and other learning experiences.
- Encourage Sustainable Practices: Promote environmentally and economically sustainable breeding practices that ensure the well-being of horses and the viability of breeding operations.
- Strengthen Community and Collaboration: Build a stronger community among Hanoverian and Rhineland breeders by facilitating networking, collaboration and knowledge-sharing opportunities.
- Enhance Competitiveness: Help breeders produce high-quality Hanoverian and Rhineland horses that can compete successfully at national and international levels, thereby enhancing the reputation and marketability of the breed.
These goals align with the broader mission of the American Hanoverian Society Foundation to promote and improve the breeding of Hanoverian and Rhineland horses in the U.S. The AHSF Breeder Advancement Fund aims to create a positive, lasting impact on the Hanoverian and Rhineland breeding community by providing targeted support and fostering a culture of breeding excellence, innovation and sustainability.
General Requirements:
- Applicant must be a current member of the American Hanoverian Society and a U.S. citizen or Permanent resident.
- Funds must be used on qualifying events or opportunities meeting the objectives described above.
- Previous recipients of funds from the AHSF Breeder Advancement Fund may not apply.
- Types of funding include: travel grants (funding for breeders to attend breeding conferences, seminars or workshops), or scholarships (education grants for breeders to pursue further education in equine breeding and breeding program management).
- Funds may be used for approved expenses directly related to the qualifying opportunity. The selection committee reserves the right to approve all qualified expenses prior to disbursement of funds.
- Awarded funds will be reimbursed to the recipient AFTER the event and only after proof of payment and attendance has been received by the AHS Foundation and a detailed list of submitted expenses with receipts has been approved by the selection committee.
- Scholarship recipients are required to share photos and a written summary of their experience with the AHS Foundation within 30 days of the event to be used in promotion of the Foundation and the AHSF Breeder Advancement Fund. Funds will be reimbursed upon receipt of these materials from the recipient.
- Funds must be used within a calendar year of the award date (September 30).
Scholarship Amount:
- Funds awarded up to $1,000.00. The number of scholarships awarded will vary based on the quality and number of applications and will be at the discretion of the scholarship selection committee.
- The maximum amount to be awarded annually from this fund is $2,000.00.
- The committee reserves the right to not award a grant in any given year if they determine that no candidate has met the criteria. Funds would then be held until the following year.
Deadline and Award Notification:
- Applications are due September 15 of each year. Applications must be complete and submitted on time to be considered.
- Incomplete applications and applications received after the stated deadline will not be considered for this fund.
- The decision for this scholarship award will be made by September 30 of the application year. All applicants will be notified of the decision via email.
Additional Information:
- If the scholarship recipient is unable to attend the approved event or opportunity, the AHS Foundation must be notified as soon as possible. The scholarship selection committee reserves the rights to rescind the funds and provide funding to another applicant. Failure to provide timely notification of withdrawal to the committee will result in required reimbursement of any funds received and potential future disqualification from this annual award program.
- The applications and discussions of the selection committee are confidential, and decisions are final.
